Merav has been surrounded by arts all her life. As a child, she would often visit her grandmother, an art therapist specializing in developmental disabilities, at work where she would be exposed to a variety of arts such as pottery, knitting, and painting. Throughout elementary school and high school she continued to heighten her skills by taking an array of art courses and workshops while continuing to work with her favorite media - charcoal drawing. After high school, she traveled to Israel where she took courses at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. She spent time in Paris visiting the Louvre Museum where she realized her dream of witnessing Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo’s work, to name a few. The Renaissance period remains her most loved historical era for painting. Coming back to Toronto she was introduced to two new modalities - scrapbooking and jewellery making.
Merav went on to pursue her academic path, graduating with Honors as a Social Service Worker and Life Skills Coach. She is a Registered Social Service Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
Inspired by her grandmother's challenges with aging, Merav decided to combine her passion and creative talent with her background in social work, starting her own business ‘Your Expressive Self’. Her greatest passion is inspiring seniors to connect to their artistic selves while simultaneously helping nurture their intellectual and emotional capacities.
“I would like to help seniors, adults, and children alike by providing them with the opportunity to expressive themselves via art. Expressive arts always help one feel better!”
